Ten Amazing Realizations Of Being A Christian

Ten Amazing Realizations Of Being A Christianfeatured

Hello, friends and neighbors of the Rio Grande Valley.  In this blog, I’d like to mention the top 10 reasons why we are so blessed by being children of God.

1.  The Infinite One who created the Universe lives in us.   We see in 2nd Corinthians 13:5, “Or do you not realize about yourselves that Jesus Christ lives in you?”  In Galatians 2:20, the apostle Paul clearly states, “It is Christ who lives in me.”  Know that you are not insignificant, as you have the Eternal Life in you.  Christ lives in you!

2.  Your life is not an accident.  The Lord knew you before you were born, before the universe existed.

    1. We are vessels of mercy unto honor (Romans 9:21-23).  Your talents are God-given, and the Lord God longs to fill you with His Spirit and use you for His purpose.  You fit perfectly into the church, the Body of Christ.
    2. Rest assured that you are not a skin bag of atoms randomly floating in the immensity of time and space with no purpose.  Neither are your thoughts simply particles bouncing in your head.  The Lord God impresses His thoughts, emotions, intuitions, and even burdens on you.  So let’s open up more to Him and firmly believe we are here for a purpose.
  1.

3.  The Christian life is lived according to the principle of Life, not the principle of right or wrong.  As mentioned in number one above, we have Christ living in us.  And this is His divine, perfect, uncreated Life living in us.  We ought to live according to this Life.  Even though it may seem counterintuitive, the Lord cares that we live according to His life, not in the realm of good or bad.

For example, have you ever done a good thing but afterward had no peace?  This is an example of doing something out of your righteousness or your ideas but without the presence of the Lord. The Lord wants to be included in all of our decisions (Of course, God doesn’t want us to sin, but what He cares more about us is that we would live according to His life).

4.  God desires that we eat Him through His word.   Whether in the Old or New Testament, the number of verses that speak of eating His word is numerous.  God through and in Jesus Christ desires to be eaten through His word:   In the gospel of John, chapter 6:57, the Lord said, “He who eats me shall live because of me,” but then He clarifies that “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing; the words which I have spoken to you are spirit and are life.”   In other words, it is clear that when we eat His word, we are eating Him.   Please refer to my previous blog, “God is Small,” where I explore the smallness of our God and how we can eat Him.

5.  Our Infinite and Great God makes Himself available to us.  Praise the Lord Jesus as our one true God who did not stay in the heavens but became a man and made Himself intimately known to us.  Now compare this to Islam, where the believers of this religion have no personal and intimate contact with him.   Allah is almighty and powerful, outside its believers, who are to worship and pray to him. Still, they have no personal fellowship with him, and neither can they contain Allah in their hearts.

6.  We are the light of the world.  One of my favorite verses of all time is in John 8:12:  “I am the Light of the world.”  I believe most true seekers of God’s word have experienced the enlightening of the Lord through His word.  The more we spend time with Him in His word, the more we are infused with His light, fulfilling Matthew 5:14:  “You are the Light of the world.”

On the one hand, He is the Light of the world, but as we spend time with Him, we become the Light of the world.  The Lord knows that the age is becoming darker and darker, and He longs for those shining stars.  For more information on this theme, please refer to my previous post, “The Need for Today’s Shining Stars.”

7. It is impossible to live the Christian life by yourself.   We need the members of the Body of Christ to complete and strengthen us.  We are like living cells in the Body with a specific function that other members need.  Think for a moment about how the thyroid, a small gland in the anterior part of your neck,  produces and releases its hormones which stimulate the mitochondria in each cell of your whole body, affecting the metabolism of the entire human body.

8.  Young believers are essential.  Related to #7,  young believers also have talents and special functions in the Body of Christ, and they are like “green sprouts in the vine.”  The apostle Paul told Timothy, “Let no one despise your youth but be a pattern to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity” (1 Timothy 4:12).   Younger members of the body are still growing and developing but are very much precious in the eyes of the Lord as they are the future of His move on earth today

9. God is available to us 24 hours a day, every day.  As our dear Lord Jesus said, “I do not leave you orphans” (John 14:18), and “… so that where I am, you also may be” (14:3).   Because God is triune, He works through the Holy Spirit, and wherever we are, and in whatever situation we may be going through, be sure that He is there with you.  He is the great I am.

10.  We know where and with whom we will spend eternity.
