What Really Fills Us?

What Really Fills Us?featured

Hello friends and neighbors,

Imagine this: I’m a physician, and my clinic is thriving. Patients come to me with diabetes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol—all kinds of health challenges. I help them heal, restore their energy, and reclaim their lives. I even use the latest in micronutrition, weight loss lasers, and peptides. The results are great, and I thank God that my clinic continues to grow every week.

But what happens after a couple of years? After the excitement settles and the routine sets in, I start to ask myself: “Is this enough? Will healing people and building a successful clinic truly satisfy me?”

I don’t think it will. There’s something inside each of us—call it a God-shaped vacuum—that nothing in this world can fill. Blaise Pascal once said, “There is a God-shaped vacuum in the heart of each man which cannot be satisfied by any created thing but only by God the Creator, made known through Jesus Christ”. I believe that’s true.

No matter how much success, recognition, or even good we do for others, there’s still a longing for “something more.” That’s because we were made for God Himself.

The Recovery Version of the Bible puts it like this:

“For we are His masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand in order that we would walk in them” (Ephesians 2:10, Recovery Version).

But even more, the Bible says:

“But whosoever drinks of the water that I will give him shall by no means thirst forever; but the water that I will give him will become in him a spring of water gushing up into eternal life” (John 4:14, Recovery Version).

Only God, through Jesus Christ, can fill that eternal void inside us. When we receive Him as the Spirit into our human spirit, He quenches our deepest thirst and satisfies our longing for meaning and purpose. He is the answer and the solution to everything we long for.

If you’re feeling lonely, hopeless, or helpless today, know this: you’re not alone. God promises, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deuteronomy 31:6, Recovery Version).  He is with you right now, and He wants to fill your emptiness with His presence.

Let’s open our hearts to Him. Let’s allow Him to fill us, to give us rest, and to be our true satisfaction.
